Apple Bottom Jeans
Apple Bottom Jeans catapulted to fame not just because they were featured as one of Oprah's favorites in 2004, but because hip hop superstar Nelly, the creator of the line, focused on a serious gap in the denim market and filled it. (In more ways than one). These jeans are designed for women with amazing curves. The denim is 96% cotton and 4% lycra, allowing them to comfortably adjust to a woman’s body.
Since their introduction, Apple Bottom Clothing has expanded the brand to include items for children and plus sized women. They've done it well, and the line has now expanded to include , jackets and skirts, as well as accessories like handbags and shoes.
Rapper turned designer Nelly says about his inspiration, "As a man you kinda know what you are attracted to when you see a young lady walking. You kinda know what turns your head, if she's looking right or styled right, so you try to lend those influences to the designer," he said. "Hopefully they can come up with something that's original that will benefit our Apple Bottom Jeans line." Nelly has remained directly involved with the design process in order to ensure that their “fashions deliver the magic to reveal the beauty of the woman who wears them”.
The line caters to women with natural curves, no matter what shape and size. Their mission is to “liberate the natural curves of a woman’s body”. The line was launced in August 2003 with a televised search for the “Apple Bottoms Girl”. It didn’t take long to see celebrities other than Oprah wearing Apple Bottoms. Vivica A. Fox and Alicia Keys were amongst the first.
What also has distinguised Apple Bottom Jeans from its competitors is that their styles are not only trendy and fashion forward, but they retail at very affordable prices. You can find an excellent selection of Apple Bottoms at DrJays.com.
