Fashion Design History
Fashion design history is a fascinating subject, and the following resources offer a very thorough and academic coverage. I'm disappointed that blue jeans are barely mentioned, but I'm sure the scholars involved would not deny the importance of this phenomenon, and will probably soon add a page or two on denim fashion. Some of these sites cover topics such as the effects of technology, distribution systems, mass production, theory, ethnic dress, military uniforms, religious dress, corsets and underwear, and much more. If you enjoy history and are interested in fashion, I'm sure you'll have lots of hours of fun visiting these great sites.
- Fashion Era: This is an encyclopedic coverage of fashion and fashion history. Over 500 pages of info and pictures! It’s a must.
- Sixties City: Nostalgia time….. great memories of this influential decade. You’ll probably spend lots of time here, I sure did and I haven’t finished yet.
- The Costume Gallery: An extensive coverage of fashion and costume history. It even contains a section on the development of hairstyles. You’ll love it.
- The Costumer's Manifesto: This is another gargantuan site. Hundreds of images and links.
