Appple Computer just launched the latest version of the i-Pod Shuffle. It's a fabulous, tiny, 1 Gb clip on device that can store up to 240 songs. So, why mention it here? Well, Apple has paired this coolest of all devices with the coolest of all garments (yes, I'm talking about jeans). All of their publicity revolves around a lifestyle image that undoubtedly denim reinforces.I love my jeans and my Mac, in any order!
Generation Y (consumers between 17 and 26 years old) have chosen 7 For All Mankind the clear winner in a recent survey conducted by marketing consultants SLANT for the Retail Advertising and Marketing Association. The top 10 lineup featured Diesel, Lucky, Levis, Citizens of Humanity, Gap, American Eagle, Guess, Joe’s and Old Navy. Some interesting statistics from the survey: 41% of those polled regularly spend more than $100 on a pair of jeans, 31% spend between $50 and $99, and 28% spend less than $50 per pair. Another interesting result from the survey was that nearly 42% of those polled purchase their jeans as brand specific stores. The numbers were higher for women: a whopping 68% spend between $50 and $150 on their favorite label! Generation Y’ers have definite views about what brand is hot and where to purchase. With respect to internet searches by jean's brand, True Religion leads the pack, with Diesel, Joe's and Guess distant seconds (According to Srylophane Brand Search Popularity Index). I guess Y'ers already know where to find their 7 For All Mankind jeans!
