Jul 6, 2006, Levi's blue jeans going green.... Green as in “organic”, that is. The San Francisco based company announced a new line that will be made with 100% organic cotton, and is due to debut this November. The line will be called Eco, and it will add new styles to their Red Tab and Capital E men’s and women’s line. This move places Levi’s at the cutting edge of current consumer concerns with all things natural. The jeans will be made from cotton cultivated from seeds that have not been genetically modified or enhanced or treated with pesticides or fungicides. They are expected to retail from $90 to $300. Consumers have favorably received organic food and beauty products, so organic apparel sounds like a logical next step.
